CADETTES complete requirements for the Breathe journey, focused on air and nature, health, and climate change. SENIORS earn Sow What, focused on environmental and health aspects of food systems, or GIRLtopia. AMBASSADORS can earn Your Voice or Justice journeys. All can earn the Citizen Science journey. All have common environmental leadership and activism elements, and girls can choose their focus in the online and other activities.
For each journey, five weekly afternoon 50-minute meetings will be held on Zoom videoconference platform (not Balboa Program Center), at the times of TICKET CHOICE = MEETING TIMES. Adjustments will be made for spring vacation weeks. Activities will be completed individually and with partners, and will take 2 to 3 hours between each meeting. The Citizen Science journey has two meetings (Feb. 27 or 28 and March 13 or 14), and registration link is at Happenings-Cadettes.
Journeys are led by Anne Fege, outdoor volunteer, longtime Girl Scout, and urban forester. Leaders are encouraged to invite-organize your TROOP to sign up and complete this journey together, with some or all troop members and even other troops from Service Unit. Leader oversight of the girls’ participation during the journeys is optional.
Please be considerate, and register only if you have confirmed each girl's participation. (Sometimes there have been 30 percent no-shows and drop-outs, but even cancellations can allow for combining to set up optimal groups of 8 to 12 girls.) The journey is limited to girls and adults who are members of Girl Scouts San Diego (even if information reaches troops in other councils).
